Module 1: UNSW basics
Welcome to UNSW. As a new student, you may discover that study at university is very different to your previous experiences.
This module will outline services available to you as a new student on campus.
You will also learn about the administrative requirements you will encounter.
Read the learning outcomes for this module.
Student ID card & UniPass
There are two official forms of identification for UNSW students, your Student ID card and your UniPass.
Your Student ID card is required as proof of identity. It is used for accessing many UNSW services and Library resources. It is also your Library card, used for borrowing books or other Library materials. For more information about your ID card, visit the Student ID card page in the UNSW A-Z Student Guide
Your UniPass is your UNSW password. Once you are fully enrolled you will receive your official or full UniPass. It is used for logging into Library resources and accessing your student email. You will also use it to log into UNSW student eLearning resources. You will need to activate your student account by agreeing to the conditions of use, before you can use your UniPass.
Student email
All your official UNSW correspondence will be sent to your UNSW student email. You must check here for messages from your lecturer, enrolment details and other important information. The Library will also contact you via this email address so you should check it regularly.
